Happy 9th Wedding Anniversary Jennifer & Mikey!

Happy 9th Wedding Anniversary Mikey & Jenn! How did that happen? How did 9 years just zoom by? I remember bringing Larry home to meet the entire family at your wedding. We had just gotten engaged that August and then he flew to New York to meet everyone. What a beautiful wedding you had and now, we have Taylor & Logan. We are all so lucky!!

Great News! We just received word that our preliminary court date is this Friday-September 21st at 11:00 am! Our final court date should follow with-in the week, then, we will be returning to the states for approx 5 weeks, anxiously awaiting a return trip to receive Norah.

We also received a wonderful email from our Pediatrician-Dr. Lisa O’Mahony. Dr. O’Mahony specializes in working with infants who have been adopted internationally. The following is a snip of what Dr. O’Mahony shared with us in her email; “The medical report on baby Abrams is reassuring. Her height, weight, and head circumference at birth place her at the 95th %, which suggests healthy intrauterine growth. Apgar of 7 suggests that she did not require any significant resuscitation at birth. The baby seems to be thriving and growing and all the medical specialists give the baby approval. If a child is thriving and developmentally appropriate, that speaks well for general well being. Expect about one month delay for every four months a child spends in an orphanage. Language delay is typical. Vaccines are up to date. There are additional vaccines that will be administered in the states upon her return. Needless to say, Larry and I are very pleased with this report. We will certainly keep everyone posted. We love, love, love each and every comment from everyone-Thank you!!

PS: We also took Norah to have her passport picture done today. Her eyes where as big as pancakes during the car ride, but she seemed to enjoy sitting on our laps and looking out the window (no baby car seats here). She smiled pretty for the camera!

Hello from Oswego,

What an interesting and informative blog today.

When I read the poem Brett and Kim sent it made me think of Nan. When your Mom and I were young Nan introduced us to so many wonders of the world. She was always taking us on interesting walks in the woods to pick wildflowers, observe snimals(not snakes),pick blueberries ,to just enjoy nature. We learned to keep a vegetable garden, make maple syrup,
shell black walnuts and can fruits and veggies. Letting us comb her hair by dipping the comb in water from the fish bowl was something
only a grandmother would allow. My wish is for Norah to have special family in her life to teach her life's lessons in such a fun and interesting way.

Dr. O'Mahony's report was very intersting to me. I'm so glad she has reviewed Norah's information so you will have a baseline on which to chart her progress. Remember, where she is now is her starting point to keep in mind but the excitement is watching her gain in language, motor skills and other areas of development. With the stimulating environment you will emersse her in I'm certain you will see great growth. Remember, you compare Norah to Norah not to anyone else. The charts, studies, and other people's children help you set goals but Norah will master them when she is ready. Based on 33 years of experience I have found some children develop verbal skills more quickly than motor skills and vice versa. Right now from what you have shared with us, it looks like Norah's motor skills may be slightly ahead of her verbal. You and Larry will be her best language models but in her family all her young cousins will be very influential.

Guess Ive rambled on enough for today.

We love you all so very much.
Love,Aunt Sandy

Thanks for the Anniversary wishes! We had a "family celebration" with the kids last night at the Italian Restaurant in New Berlin. We tried explaining to them what an Anniversary is, not really sure they got it - Taylor and Logan seem to think that getting married involves kissing and hugging and right now Taylor closes her eyes when Mike and I are affectionate with each other. I think maybe she thinks we are passing cooties or something!!! We are going out just the two of us next weekend to celebrate also.

Yes, I do remember meeting Larry for the first time during our wedding weekend. What I remember more is the smile on Christy's face because of the love and happiness she had found! It seems like it was ages ago, think of all the things that have happened since then...Arizona, California, Taylor, Pennsylvania, Mom and Dad move to AZ, Logan, Brittany is a wife, Allyson now lives in PA, and now the precious addition of Norah! We all have so much to be grateful for!!!

So glad to hear that the Doctor reports Norah is on the right developmental track. All of the love and attention she will receive will result in wonderful gains as she goes along in this adventure of life!

I am so excited that you have a court date and will hopefully be traveling home soon. I can only imagine how hard it will be for you to be away form Norah for 5 weeks... it is good that you have seen and experienced some life at the baby house so you know that she will be well cared for. Norah has no idea how wonderful her world will be once she adjusts to her world in Pennsylvania! I believe she is one of the luckiest babies in the world to have you for Mommy and Daddy!!!

I will try to call Friday to find out about court, know that you will be in our thoughts and prayers even more than usual!

Hugs and Kisses to you all,
Jennifer
